Program Description:

Tried and True, American Idol Super Star Alumni Clay Aiken's first Public Television special, reaches back into the romantic past of the 50's and 60's, featuring many of the most iconic love songs ever written. Shot at the Memorial Auditorium in Clay's home town of Raleigh, North Carolina, Tried and True features a full orchestra and big band. Clay is joined on stage by special guest and American Idol colleague Ruben Studdard, along with special guest Linda Eder, who is widely recognized as one of the best female vocalists of our time. 

German born Alex Christensen is handling production and arrangements, and brings the considerable skills he developed working with Paul Anka on his acclaimed 'Rock Swings' album and Michael Bolton on his major Sinatra tribute 'Bolton Swings Sinatra' to this concept, as well as the more contemporary sounds of his own project Alex Swings & Oscar Sings, featured recently on the Oprah Winfrey show. 

 

This special concert is the world premiere live performance of Clay's forthcoming album, Tried and True, being released on Decca this Spring.

AI_NEWS~ Shania Twain songbook theme for 'American Idol' next week





The top 6 finalists on "American Idol" better get ready to strap on their boots for a pop-country-themed competition next week. Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynche and Siobhan Magnus will be tackling the Shania Twain songbook next Tuesday (April 27), compliments of mentor Shania Twain.

Chart-topping crew and recent multiple-ACM Award winners Lady Antebellum and country radio faves Rascal Flatts will be performing on results night next Wednesday, the former on "Need You Now," the latter on "Unstoppable."

Shania Twain hasn't released any new music in years, but is rumored to be making a comeback album for 2010. She scored a reality show on Oprah's cable network, announced earlier this month, and made a special appearance during the Olympics' opening earlier this year, further fueling activity from the Twain camp. She was also a guest judge during Idol's audition rounds.

AI_NEWS~ Clay and Ruben "Timeless" Tour Dates Announced




 
 
After much anticipation and speculation, Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard confirmed today plans to tour North America. Kicking off July 23, 2010 in Asheville, North Carolina, Clay and Ruben will bring their "Timeless" tour to 17 cities including appearances at famed venues such as New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, LA Nokia Live in Los Angeles, and Pennsylvania's American Music Theater. This is the first time the two artists will tour together.

"I couldn't ask for a better tour mate. To be able to share the stage with him again is so exciting," said Clay Aiken. "He is such a talented artist. He inspires me daily and I think that respect and admiration will truly be reflected in our show."

"It is truly a blessing and an honor to be on the stage with my friend," said Ruben Studdard. "The relationship that we have built over these past eight years will definitely translate into a great show for our fans. And I'm really looking forward to singing the timeless classics every night."

Concert goers can expect an entertaining evening as two friends and colleagues blend their talents for an unforgettable show. Clay and Ruben will be performing their renditions of classic hits from the past five decades. Fans can look forward to duets and special surprises throughout the tour.

In 2003, on the second season of American Idol, with over 24 million votes cast by the TV viewing audience, Ruben Studdard won the title, while Clay Aiken was the very close runner up. The two became instant friends and have shared the joys and pressures of their success over the past seven years. Since Idol, both artists have released albums, performed around the country and made multiple appearances on TV.
